The idea of the "East Asian Games" was formally proposed by the Olympic Committee of the Japanese Olympic Committee at the first East Asian Olympic Committee meeting on 15 09 1991, in order to get more opportunities to promote sports and cultural exchanges between the countries and the regional Olympic committees in East Asia.
At the joint meeting of the second East Asian Olympic committees in Beijing in November 6, 1991, the first East Asian Games was hosted in two years, and the first East Asian Games were hosted by Shanghai in 1993. The first East Asian Games were held in Shanghai in May 9, 1993. A total of 9 countries and regions participated in 12 major sports events.
In 1995, the second East Asian Games, which was originally held in Pyongyang, North Korea, were temporarily forced to be canceled due to economic factors. The East Asian Games would change the games from the original two years to four years, while the host city of the East Asian Games was replaced by the host city of the East Asian Games as host of the second East Asian Games. In March the following year, the eleventh East Asian Games meeting held in Guam, and Macao won the right to host the third East Asian Games. After that, Japan proposed that the East Asian Games revitalize the economy after the great Osaka Kobe earthquake. Therefore, the resolution was hosted by Osaka in the third session and Macao hosted the fourth session.
Although there are few countries and regions in the East Asian Games, some projects have a high level of sports technology because of the active participation of the Asian sports three powers, Japan and Korea. From the achievements of the second East Asian Games, we can see that the level of sports in East Asia and even Asia is constantly improving.
